Louise Steele

Obituary of Louise Eliza Steele

Louise was born in Penobsquis, NB on November 23, 1935. A daughter of the late Walter and Helen (Adair) Dunfield and the loving wife of 58 years to Bob Steele. As the story goes, Bob first met Louise when he sat behind her in high school. Louise took very good notes and due to their close seating proximity, Bob was quite easily able to copy her notes and consequently did well in school. All his friends teased that he was dating Louise because she was the first to have her license to drive, but in all actuality, it was love at first sight. Louise worked as an insurance broker for nearly 40 years. She also sold Avon for 20 years. Both played into her strengths; she had a kind heart, was a good listener, and she loved talking to people, hearing their stories. Louise was a lady in every sense of the word. Always impeccably dressed, with her hair done just right and lipstick on. She was mannerly, quiet, and sometimes a bit reserved. She was strong-willed and independent. Louise absolutely loved to play bridge and was quite accomplished in her level of play and she very rarely missed the local card marathons. Louise and Bob joined a trailering club known as the “Hub City Road Runners” and had many wonderful adventures touring the Maritimes. Then in 1983, many of the group traded their trailers in for cottages in Caissie Cape and the adventures continued. Louise and Bob enjoyed the cottage so very much and made life-long friendship connections over those years in the Cape that remain today. She and Bob loved to go to the dances in Sussex and had so much fun over the years playing dominoes and many different card games with friends. Perhaps some of their fondest memories of friendship have occurred over the last 17 years in Florida. “Patio Parties” were a weekly occurrence where much fun and laughter were had with their friends. Louise was very family oriented and family connection was of the utmost importance. She and Bob and the kids never missed a Kilpatrick or Steele family reunion. Louise was loved very dearly and she will be forever remembered. Mrs. Louise Eliza Steele of Riverview, NB passed away on November 15, 2016 at the age of 80.
