Obituary of Elsie Mary Friars

Mrs. Elsie Mary Friars was born in Norton on December 4, 1927; she was the daughter of the late Richie and Mary (Pollock) Bickford. Elsie was a member of the PC Women's Association, the Wards Creek Women's Institute and St. Paul's United Church where she was also a former member of the UCW. She was strong and caring to her core, whether it was helping to raise her siblings, bringing up her own children or working for the Kings County Memorial Hospital after Clarence's passing. Elsie was a pivotal part of the all of the lives she touched and will be greatly missed. Elsie will live on in the hearts of her daughter, Diane Robinson of Fredericton; her three sons: Blaine and his wife Susan of Smith Creek, Tom and his wife Linda of Riverview and Richard and his wife Del of Calgary, Alberta; four brothers: Lawrence and his wife Betty of Austin, Manitoba, Donald and his wife Flora of Saint John, Murray and his wife Clara of Quispamsis and George of Sussex; her sister, Barbara Thurrott of Riverview; her sister-in-law, Edna Walker; six grandchildren: Jillian, Alicia, Shelley, Bradley and his wife Nicole, Laura and her husband Dunu and Bruce; five great grandchildren: Jade, Blake, Kamryn, Noah and Eden; as well as several nieces and nephews Along with her parents, Elsie is predeceased by her first husband, Clarence A. Friars who passed away in 1966; her 2nd husband, Harold W. Friars who passed away in 1993; her brothers: Gordon, Harry and Ralph; her sisters: Dorothy, Blanche and Mildred; her grandson, Neil; her son-in-law, Ernie Robinson and her sister-in-law, Evelyn Darling. Mrs. Elsie Mary Friars of Moncton, formerly of Sussex; passed away at the Moncton Hospital on December 18, 2016 at the age of 89. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Wednesday 1-3 and 6-8pm. A service celebrating Elsie's life will be held from St. Paul's United Church on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11:00 am.
