Obituary of Freda Mae McFarlane
Freda Mae (Adair) McFarlane was born May 9, 1924 to Herbert and Janet Adair (Parlee) on Adair Road, Rockville, NB. She was the loving wife of the late Milford Allison McFarlane who passed in November of 1979 to cancer. They married on Oct.30, 1946 and had one child, a son. Being the Eldest of 10 children in her family, she helped her mother raising her brothers and sisters and later in life, was often thought of as the Matriarch. Many family dinners were hosted at Freda’s and her family absolutely loved to be with her.
Freda was a member of the St. Paul's United Church and also the UCW, as well as a parishioner of St. Mark’s Anglican Church. She worked for many years as a cashier at the Dominion Store and also in housekeeping at the Kiwanis Nursing Home for 10 years until her retirement in 1989. Freda was always on the go and walked to work every day, no matter the weather. She was very hardworking and loving and kind to all who knew her. She was always looking after other people and her customers were very happy to put their groceries through Freda’s cash as she took an interest in their lives and families.
Freda also adored children, but none more than her own. Her son Bruce was her pride and joy and her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought so much joy to her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, great grandmother and friend to all.
Freda will be forever in the hearts of her son, Bruce and his wife Carol of Sussex; her brothers: Doug of Millbrook, Winston and his wife Trena of Drurys Cove and Alton and his wife Shirley of Adair Rd; her sisters: Evelyn Price of Sussex Corner, Lorna Crothers of Drurys Cove and Joan MacAfee and her husband George of Waterford; two grandchildren: Jason McFarlane and his wife Stefanie and Christina McFarlane both of Sussex; her great grandchildren: Tyler, Ethan, Connor and her special little treasure, Hannah, as well as, many extended family members and friends
