Eva Lisson

Obituary of Eva Pearl Lisson

Eva was born in North Kingston, a daughter of the late Charles and Ethel (Smith) Illsley and the beloved wife of the late Gordon Lisson, who passed away in 1985. She was a lovely woman who always put others before herself. Eva’s family have so many wonderful memories of their lives with “Nana”. Her grandchildren profess her to be the best baker of molasses cookies and fondly remember the treat of cinnamon sugar toast before bed. They were absolutely the “light in her eye” and she loved each and every one of them dearly. Eva was a beautiful quilter and also knit many pairs of mittens and socks over the years. Many of her loved ones have received a knit or quilted gift over the years. Eva was always on the go and very regimented in her schedule. Her faithful hairdresser would come to Eva every Friday at 9 am without fail, and Eva even kept her appointment the week before she passed. She read the newspaper every day and never missed the evening news. Eva loved to be “up to date and in the know”. She was so sharp and so connected to the ones she loved, never missing a birthday or special day in her family’s life. Eva loved travel adventures and journeyed to Florida on several occasions to visit her daughter Bertha’s vacation home. She was very independent and drove into her early nineties often making her family laugh when she would comment on the fact that she was driving a “red car” at her age. Eva was an amazing lady who was loved very dearly and cared very deeply for her precious family. She will be forever remembered. Eva will be ever present in the hearts of her daughters: Bertha Stockton and her husband Vernon of Burlington, ON; Freda Cunningham and her husband Gordon of Sussex; her son Ken Lisson and his wife Doris of Saint John; 10 grandchildren: Allison and John Aird, Bradley Lisson, Gary Lisson, Craig Lisson and Delian Perry, Brenda McCormack and Dave Gaunce, Beverly Lisson, Diana and Scott Geldart, Scott Lisson, Daryl and Debbie Lisson and Karen and Ralph Colpitts; 14 great grandchildren: Alana Aird, Christine Brideau, Dane Hall, Justin and Breanne McCormack, Cheryl Ann and Nicholas Lambert, Daphne and Josh Wren, Brandon and Britnay Geldart, Karrin Geldart, Dylan and Melanie Lisson, Dean and Jillian Lisson, Devan Lisson and Matt Mason, Dominick and Erin Colpitts, Darcie and Mitchell Jonah, Denise Colpitts and Christa Matheson; 14 great great grandchildren: Zoey McCormack, Zaine McCormack, Charlie Wren, Archer Wren, Quinn Lisson, Drew Lisson, Sydney Lisson, Cali Lisson, Jack Lisson, Austin Colpitts, Blake Colpitts, Micah Jonah, Eli Jonah and Luke Jonah, as well as many extended family members. Mrs. Eva Lisson, of Sussex, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her adoring family on December 23, 2016, at the age of 103, in her own home. Along with her parents and loving husband Gordon, Eva was predeceased by her son Donald, her sisters Marion Parlee, Annie Lisson and Winnifred Nixon; her brother Heber Illsley; her grandson Reverend Stephen Lisson and by her granddaughter Sharon Lisson.
