Obituary of Milton Alexander MacKay

Mr. Milton MacKay was born on February 22, 1947, he was one of 10 sons and 3 daughters born to the late John and Louise (Forgraves) MacKay. Milton stayed at home in Wards Creek and worked alongside his parents on the family farm for most of his adult life. He really enjoyed the hard work and all of the cows that he tended to. Milton was also very knowledgeable about anything to do with working in the woods. Anything from cutting pulp to piling wood, Milton knew a little bit about it all. Following the passing of his mom and dad, and due to Milton's health and circumstances, he entered the Topaz Special Care Home in 2002 and soon began his new life at his "second home". That was nearly 15 years ago and over that time, Milton made several friends and thoroughly entertained his caregivers. He was happy and good-natured and loved to sing songs. Some of his siblings describe him as a quiet, gentle man who loved animals. Milton loved "treat day" at his care home and couldn't wait for Wednesday to come around so he could have a pop and some chips and he especially enjoyed his chocolate milk. He was also known, on occasion, to wander across the road to the restaurant and have a "wobbily pop" or two with a friend or family member. We couldn't talk about all of Milton's favorite treats without mentioning his peppermints. A few years back, after a health issue, his doctor told him he would have to quit smoking and after 3 months in hospital, Milton kicked the habit. He would eagerly await his ration of daily peppermints from the girls at the home and would take his "smoke breaks" at regular intervals with his treasured mints. Milton was a special fellow with a loving heart and he will be missed by all those who knew him. Milton is survived by his brothers: Danny and Leona MacKay of New Line, Eldon and Elizabeth MacKay of Sussex, Charlie and Dianne MacKay of Wards Creek, Melbourne and June MacKay of Hampton, Colby and Gail MacKay of Norton, Sydney and Diane MacKay of Wards Creek, Elmer and Dianna MacKay of Sussex and Angus MacKay of Wards Creek; his sisters: Alice Mallory of Dutch Valley and Udeavillia Throop of Saint John, as well as, several extended family members. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Walter, sister Madeline Eagles and brothers-in-law Alvin Mallory, Kenneth Troop and Aaron Eagles Milton Alexander MacKay passed away on December 30, 2016 at the Topaz Special Care Home in Norton, NB.
