Obituary of Peter Tamlyn
Frederick Peter Tamlyn was born in Sussex on June 26, 1953. He was the only child of the late F. Paul and Mabel E. (Hughson) Tamlyn and beloved husband of Barbara McInerney.
He attended Sussex High School and New Brunswick Community College in Saint John where he studied electrical and appliance repair. He worked as a repairman at Wayne’s TV, Canmar, and retired from Potash Corp. NB Division in 2014 after a 28 year career.
He loved the outdoors and traveled all over Kings County and beyond on the back roads in his Jeep Wrangler or his half ton truck, when roads permitted. He and Barb would pack a picnic lunch and spend the day exploring. Peter loved going out on hunting trips with his dad. It didn’t matter if they shot anything it was the time they spent together that was so precious to both of them.
Peter spent a lot of his time in his garage and work shop. He loved to fix things whether it was a piece of furniture or an appliance. One year he thought a few of the 8 foot logs he had bought for fire wood were too good to cut up and he made them into a chest of drawers. Peter took pride in his expertise and talent for wood working.
Peter was a member of the Kings County Historical Society, Quaco Museum & Archives Society, Kirk Hill Cemetery Board of Directors, and past member of the NB Antique Auto Club, and Agricultural Museum.
Peter is survived by his wife of 30 years Barbara McInerney of New Line; his aunts Helen Hughson and Wanda Herrington and her husband Jim; as well as several cousins.
Peter Tamlyn of New Line passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on February 16, 2017 at the age of 63 in the company of his wife Barbara.
