Obituary of Arnold Dwight Lyttle

Arnold Dwight Lyttle was born June 3, 1927 in Hibernia, Queenstown, NB. He was a son of Howard and Minnie (Rathburn) Lyttle and loving husband of Marion (Gray) Lyttle who passed away on October 7th, 1975. Early on in his career, Arnie came to Sussex to work for Nelson Monuments as an engraver, but his talent for being a jack of all trades soon led him down another path. He was a self-employed cabinet maker and master carpenter and enjoyed the fine art of finish work. In his early days, his workshop was in his kitchen and his kitchen table was his saw horse. He also built several mobile classrooms for the school board while working with Morris Chown. He loved to be busy and always enjoyed starting a new project. No job was too big or too small. He took on several big jobs building homes in the Sussex and surrounding areas and many renovation jobs; he even helped his son and wife renovate their kitchen. Arnie also worked many smaller jobs, building decks and creating many beautiful pieces of furniture over the years for his family and friends. He was a true artist with pieces such as china cabinets, custom desks for his granddaughters, coffee and end tables and a beautiful baby cradle for Blair's children. He always had a pocket full of sharp pencils and his artistry shone through with his drawings, sketches, penmanship and calligraphy. Arnie also had an interest in adult coloring books and word search puzzles. Arnie had a big heart and cared for people. He would do anything for anyone. He also had a strong love of animals, especially cats and dogs and more specifically, a special four-legged friend named Beau. The only love he had as strong as his love for his family was that for his God. He was a very faithful servant and an integral part of the Faith Bible Baptist Church. Not only was he a Deacon, he assisted in the building of the church itself. Arnie also taught Sunday school and volunteered at the Awana youth group. His missionary work through the church was something that he took great pride in, volunteering in Mali, Africa in the late 80's and in Venezuela in the early 90's. Arnie was a larger than life man full of love and compassion. He will be missed by every person whose life he has touched. He is survived by his children: son Dwight and his wife Elena of Dartmouth, NS, daughter Theresa Fraser and her husband John of Sussex and Blair and his wife Cathy of Sussex Corner; his grandchildren Kelly Ollivier and her husband Brian of Sussex Corner, Scott Proctor of Nanaimo, BC, Eve Lyttle and Wayne Hagget of Dartmouth, NS, Adam Lyttle of Manitoba and Trista Lyttle and Vikki Lyttle, both of Stratford, PE; his great grandchildren Kody Ollivier and his wife Jessica of Sussex Corner, Brady Ollivier of Fredericton, Kassidy Ollivier of Sussex Corner, Mackenzie Proctor of Nanaimo, BC and Ryley Proctor of Moncton; his great great granddaughters Taya and Malia Ollivier of Sussex Corner; his sister-in-law Ethel Craig and her husband Wallace of Martinon, NB; special friends Mike and Colleen MacNeil and their family and several nieces and nephews. Arnie Lyttle peacefully went to be with his Lord on February 16, 2017 at the age of 89. He was the last remaining member of his immediate family. Along with his parents and beloved wife Marion, Arnie was predeceased by his brothers: Harold, Ronald and Lloyd and his sisters: Alice, Freda and Nina. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Sunday from 1-3 and 6-8pm. A service celebrating Arnie’s life will be held on Monday, February 20, 2017 from Faith Bible Baptist Church at 11:00 am. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Stephanie Ward and nurses and staff of the East wing for their care and kindness it will never be forgotten. If you are considering making a memorial donation the family has recommended the Canadian Red Cross - Blood Services or the Faith Bible Baptist Church
