Obituary of Donald MacVey
Mr. Donald MacVey was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on June 12, 1928; he was the son of the late William Arthur and Phyllis A. (Houston) MacVey. Don was very involved in local groups and in his community. He held many positions in his time; He was Past President and Senator of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, Charter President of the Sussex and District Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Atlantic Provinces Chamber of Commerce, Past Director of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Atlantic Canada Plus, a member and Past President of the Sussex Kiwanis Club and Past Lieutenant Governor of the Fundy Division of Kiwanis, a member of Zion Lodge #21 F & AM Sussex, a member of the St. Andrew Society of Saint John, Past President of the Princess Louise Park, Past Chairman of the Southern NB Woodlot owners, Past President of the Salem/Hillsborough Railway, Chairman and Commander of the Saint John Ambulance and Senior Elder and trustee of St. Paul's United Church; he was also honored with the Mel Osborne Fellowship and this year would have been presented with his pin and jewel for 50 years of service with the Zion Lodge. Don will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife of 54 years, Dorothy; two sons: Andrew and his wife Sylvia and Robert and his wife Kimberly; His son-in-law, Paul Gaunce all of Passekeag; his sister, Betty Price of Moncton; six grandchildren: Ian and Lindsay Gaunce, Diana, Maggie, Kaitlynn and Jonathan MacVey; his niece and four nephews. He is predeceased by his daughter Heather. Mr. Donald MacVey of Sussex passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on February 7, 2011 at the age of 82.
