Obituary of Rita May Patterson
Mrs. Rita May Patterson was born in Sussex on August 17, 1952. She was the daughter of the late George and Treva (Melvin) Baskin and the wife of the late Gerald Lawrence Patterson, who passed away in 2007.
Rita was a warm, gentle and soft hearted woman. She was known for her loving and giving nature and the way that she always put others before herself, especially her children. She was the kind of woman who would always cheer for the underdog and would give anyone the shirt off her back. Rita’s word was her bond and she never made a promise she couldn’t keep. She was compassionate and kind and instilled confidence and support with every chance she had.
She was a country girl through and through and she loved the simple life. The peacefulness of it all; from the crickets and sunsets right down to the berry picking. Rita loved to cook and everything she made was wonderful, everything just tasted better when it was homemade.
The most important thing to Rita was caring for her home and her family. Her huge heart and unconditional love will be greatly missed.
She will be forever in the hearts of her children: Lois, Sherylyn, Vance, David and Scott; her brother Norman Melvin and his wife Cathy; her grandchildren: Nicole, Leonard, James, Michelle, Whitney, Cole, Emma and Kyle; her "chosen sister" cousin Jean Baskin and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was predeceased by an infant daughter Rita; her brother Lynn Baskin and by her sister Ruby Gailey.
Mrs. Rita May Patterson of Newtown passed away at her residence on March 28, 2017 at the age of 64.
