Obituary of Henry Law
Henry "Harry" Aubrey Manley Law was born in Saint John on September 10, 1912. He was the beloved son of Thomas and Annie (Brunton) Law.
At the age of three, Harry moved to Kars with his family and attended a one-room schoolhouse to the end of grade three. He was thirsty for education so he took it upon himself to self educate. Harry married Mildred Barr in 1935 and they went on to have four sons and a daughter. Harry was a lay minister in the Glenwood Church for a few years and helped many people throughout the community.
He also worked at the Saint John Winter Port and lumber camps until he purchased his farm on Belleisle Bay in 1940. He started out raising cattle, growing fruits and vegetables and eventually started a Christmas Tree farm as well. When he made the switch to poultry, the farm became known as Law's Poultry Farm. Here, he raised chickens and sold eggs in Saint John, Sussex and Moncton. He also ran a chicken hatchery, delivering baby chicks all over New Brunswick. Harry was a founding member of not only the New Brunswick Egg Marketing Board but also the Canadian Egg Marketing Board in Ottawa, of which he was a member.
Harry was very community minded becoming a school trustee and being elected to County Counsel for Kings County. Harry loved hunting, fishing, boating, golfing and especially traveling. He and Mildred were able to visit many countries including Russia, China, Italy, Egypt and Greece. After moving to Sussex, he enjoyed his backyard gardening. He grew vegetables, apples, raspberries, strawberries and grapes. He was a wonderful storyteller and he had many wonderful stories to tell. He was a tremendous success in every aspect of his life and is a true inspiration to all who knew him.
