Obituary of Mike Bailey
Mike was born in Halifax, NS on July 10th, 1952; he was the son of the late Howard and Evelyn (Stone) Bailey.
Mike served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1969 to 1976 as an infantryman and musician playing side drum and served with Princess Patricia's Light Infantry. He also worked for many years in various construction and labour employment. He retired from the Penobsquis Fish Hatchery in 2008 and enjoyed life fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family. One of his favorite hobbies was tying flies and he created many original patterns over the years.
He was a loving husband of 42 years to Linda (Savoie) Bailey; loving father to their children Kelsey Bailey (Dan), Lindsey Oram (Gordon) and Luke Bailey (Sammi); grandfather to his precious grandchildren: Riley, Rayne, Summer, Chloe, Eva, Skye and River and brother to his two older sisters: Karen Stirling and Deyanne Ramsay and two younger sisters: Leslie Stevens and Nancy Stevens. He will also be sadly missed by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
"Mike" Howard Norman George Bailey passed away at the Sussex Health Center on June 7th, 2017 surrounded by his loving family at the age of 64.
He is predeceased by his stepfather, James Stevens; his step brother, Brenton Stevens and by his nephew, Bruce Stirling.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176).
A service celebrating Mike’s life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at 11:00am.
