Obituary of Gertie Thomas
Mrs. Gertie Thomas was born in Central Blissville on July 20, 1940, she was the daughter of the late John and Viola May (Thomas) Brown.
Gertie loved to knit and attend card parties, but most of all she loved her family, and her role as mother and grandmother, was the most important thing to her. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. Being with her family was what she enjoyed most of all. Her love and caring for them remained her focus, and in so many, many ways, she was able to show that love to them.
She will live on in the hearts of her children: Glen Thomas and his wife Stephanie of Wards Creek; Jason Smith and his wife Cherie of Searsville and Eric Brown of Campbelton; her brother, Bernard and his wife Louise of Central Blissville; her sister, Nettie Keirstead of Lower Millstream; six grandchildren: Sally, Sandy, Crystal, Jonathon, Amanda and Terry; 11 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her son, David Thomas who passed away in 2002; her brothers: Luther Brown and King Brown and his wife Edna; her sisters: Mary Totton, Dorothy Holmes and by her twin sister, Rosie Tucker; her half siblings: Alphie, Eva, Ruby and Harry Mowary.
While we know that she is at peace and that her struggles are at an end, there is pain and sadness. But even though she is gone, she has left the legacy of her love and perseverance. The ways she touched our lives will remain, and we keep those memories alive by sharing them.
