Obituary of Margaret Adrienne Taylor

Margaret Adrienne Taylor (Parlee) was born in Waterford on February 5, 1927 to Edward and Helen Parlee (Carr).

She was proud to have come from a large family and had many memories of growing up with her siblings which she likes to share with anyone who would listen.

She loved spending summers at her Uncle Jim Fanjoy's farm where she felt right at home. Going to Grandma Carr’s for some of her homemade bread and butter was a special treat that she treasured. She also took great pleasure in attending Sunday school. Margaret moved to Dutch Valley Rd. when she was in grade one and attended Sussex Corner School where she met a dashing young fellow by the name of Joseph Albert Taylor, whom she later married on June 12, 1945 in St. Marks Anglican Church in Sussex Corner. They resided in Sussex Corner where they raised 8 children, four boys and four girls. Life was interesting and exciting with so many children and so much to do. Margaret loved her children and enjoyed making their clothes, taking them camping, tobogganing on the hill behind the house, telling them stories and trying to teach them right from wrong. Her favourite saying she would tell them often was “If you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say nothing at all”.

Margaret went to work at Barbour Foods and worked there for 27 years until retirement at the age of 65. She made many friends over the years and they would remember her as being a lot of fun and for her many jokes that she loved to tell. She loved to pull a good prank on her many co-workers and friends and was the victim of a few herself. She loved to play scrabble and cards and spend a lot of time playing with her friends and family. Word Search and Crosswords were another favourite of hers. Margaret and Joe had a summer home for many years and they spend many weekends there having barbeques and get togethers with all their friends and family. She loved to attend the local Music Variety Shows and always had a tape or cd of every local artist. She loved to sing along and was known to do a little jig along to the music. Margaret loved people and was always excited to see company come. You were hard pressed to escape her house without a cup of tea and a lunch when you stopped in for a visit.

Margaret was a strong woman who survived a life threatening aneurism, that left her with some memory loss, but that did not stop her she persevered and worked her way back to a fulfilling life. In her last few years she suffered many broken bones and bruises from falls but it did not stop her, she was up and around in no time. Margaret and Joe travelled to various places, the Maritime Provinces, Florida and their all time favourite Newfoundland with their lifelong friends Jim and Vera Dickson. They loved to go for drives and explore different parts of the province.

Margaret was a beloved wife, mother, grand mother, great grandmother, great, great grandmother, friend and an angel to all those who knew and loved her. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grand children dearly; they brought her great happiness and pleasure. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten.

“Some people make the world special just by being in it."

Margaret is survived by her sons Paul Taylor (Thelma), John Taylor (Mildred), Doug Taylor (Ann), and Tom Taylor (Nadine). Her daughters Faith McMillan (Mike), Bonnie Taylor (Mike), and Elaine Riedel (Chris), Sixteen grandchildren, Patty, Stephen, Susan, Kathy, Alan, Scott, Tracy, Tanya, Kevin, Karen, Sharon, Brian, Pamela, Amie, Jessica and Mike.
