Obituary of Jean McLean Armstrong

Jean McLean (Sprott) Armstrong was born in Scotland, January 9th, 1928.  She was one of seven children born to the late Martin and Mary (Nelson) Sprott and she was the beloved wife of the late Elmer A. Armstrong.

Jean's family immigrated from Scotland when she was three years old with her brother Guy and sister Ina in tow.  They landed in Quebec and then boarded a train for Norton.  The family made Mercer Settlement their home and one by one, the rest of the children came along.  They were raised on a dairy farm and all the kids pitched in and helped with the chores. Jean also worked outside of the home.  First in the winter lumber camps as a cook and then on the assembly line at Canada Packers for more than 29 years until she sadly was retired due to the closure of the plant.  All of Jean and Elmer's children felt very blessed growing up to have two hard working parents as it allowed for the most wonderful Christmases for all the kids.  Christmas was Jean's favorite time of the year and she ensured that each and every child, from her sons and daughters, right on through to the many generations of grandchildren felt so very special.  She was kind and generous and made sure that everyone felt cared for.  Dinners were plentiful and delicious and the family was happy.

Jean was a beautiful wife, companion, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend and will continue to be loved and always remembered by those she loved so dearly.

Jean will be forever in the hearts of her special friend of 25+ years, Doug Miller of Apohaqui; her son David Armstrong and his wife Judy of Mt.
