Obituary of Heather Gaunce

Heather Ann Gaunce was born in Fredericton on September 29, 1957, she was the daughter of Donald and Dorothy (Fraser) MacVey of Sussex. She grew up in Sussex and was an excellent figure skater during her school years. She graduated from Sussex High School in 1975 and went on to Mount Allison University in Sackville, receiving her Bachelor of Arts in 1979. She worked as the co-ordinator for the school milk program at the N.B Milk Marketing Board from 1979 to 1981 and she went to UNB Fredericton and received her Bachelor of Education in 1982. She was a supply school teacher in most schools of Southern New Brunswick. She started skiing after University and became an instructor at Poley Mountain for several years. Heather married Paul in 1987 and they lived on their dairy farm in Passekeag. Her son Ian was born in 1989 and her daughter Lindsay in 1992. Heather stayed at home with the children until they went to school. Heather loved sewing, knitting along with many other crafts. She made many outfits for herself and Lindsay and Ian as they were growing. She had become interested in weaving a few years ago and bought a loom. She taught herself through reading many books and became very good at it. She also enjoyed doing round bale art that became somewhat of a family tradition. Each year there would be a different Christmas scene. She had been in sorority for the past several years and greatly appreciated the friendships and good times that she had with her sorority sisters. Heather Ann will live on in the hearts of her parents: Don and Dorothy MacVey of Sussex; her husband, Paul Gaunce; her children: Lindsay and Ian, at home, her brothers: Andrew MacVey and his wife Sylvia and Robert MacVey and his wife Kim; her aunts; Leslie Armstrong and Lillian Fraser; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Mrs. Heather Ann Gaunce of Passekeag, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 26, 2011 at the age of 53.
