Obituary of Maud Matthews

Maud was born in Saskatoon on October 15, 1915. She was the daughter of the late William and Ethel (Skinner) Sparkes and was the wife of the late Murray Matthews who passed away in 1993. Maud was a hard worker all of her life, not only as a homemaker but also on the farm in Erb Settlement. Maud will live on in the hearts of her daughter, Doris Connell and her husband Cedric of Long Creek, her son John Matthews and his wife Jennie of Petitcodiac, her brother Jack Sparkes of Keremous, BC. two grandchildren: Roger Matthews (Monica Kimble) of Ontario, Rodney Matthews and his wife Serena of Calgary, five great grandchildren: Crista Wood and her husband Christopher of Petitcodiac, Troy Williams of Miramichi and their mother Susan MacNeill and her husband Dennis of Prosser Brook and Jason Matthews and his mother Nancy, Rachel and Tyler Matthews of Calgary; three great great grandchildren Katelyn, Julia and Adam Wood; as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her sister Cora Evans, Jessie Sterloff, her brother Bill Sparkes, her son in law Robert Williams who passed away in 1983, her grandson Arthur Williams who passed away in 1980, her granddaughter Roberta who passed away in 1957. Maud Matthews of Long Creek passed away at the Sussex Health Center on January 23, 2011 at the age of 95.
