Obituary of Burton Simpson
Burton was born April 21, 1946, in Smiths Creek, NB. He was a son to Edgar and Bertha (Wheaton) Simpson and the loving husband of Vera Coates for 48 years.
He started out driving truck for Cecil Fanjoy and Doug Norrad and over the years he also drove taxi and worked in the woods. He could often be found in his wood yard in Smiths Creek, one of his favorite places. He would pass the time splitting kindling wood that folks would come from all over to buy.
Burt was a “happy go lucky” fellow with a great sense of humour. Some would even say that “he was a character” and his children would tell you that they have many special memories of growing up happy and loved.
Burt especially enjoyed spending time with his precious grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were so important to “grampy or ampy”and he was so proud of each one. Barbecue’s in the backyard were amazing adventures and any time spent with Vera’s family was a treasure to Burt. He loved his family very very much.
Although Burt struggled with serious health issues for many years, he never let it break him. He never gave up and he was so very brave and strong until the end. He will be greatly missed. On Friday, October 27, 2017, Mr. Burton Edgar Simpson of Sussex, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at the Sussex Health Centre at the age of 71.
