I was shocked and saddened to read of Carl's passing. We go back to 1980 at Atlantic Wholesalers in Saint John, during the days of Bill Woagy and Ralph Steeves. Carl and I crossed paths several times over the years and always shared a few laughs from the days when we got our start in the food industry. Carl was a gifted and true salesman who would put a smile on the face of those he came in contact with. My sincere condolences to the family.

Dear Susan,
Ann and I were shocked learning of Carl's passing. "He has all the answers now". I have many wonderful memories of Carl, his work ethic, personality, his humour, and how he use to make so many people feel at ease around him. He was a character, great worker and a good Brother, the craft will miss him for sure. For a few years before I parted ways with RBH we had a kind of connection that only a few had and could understand, I am a firm believer that the Masonic Craft was good for us both. I am so sad learning of his passing, I only wish you the best that life can offer and may you continue enjoying curling and your family. With the greatest respect, our heart felt condolences, may the Grand Architect of the Universe look over him and you.

Being a member of the Class of '78, and growing up on "the hill", I don't have many memories of my teen years that don't include Carl and Sonja. I, along with many others, spent a lot of time at their home. I'd be there, hanging out with Sonja, and Carl would come in with that big grin always joking, laughing, or teasing someone. He was always so much fun to be around. He loved a good prank...I remember at our graduation dance in 1978, as part of the decorations there was a large crescent moon ( I believe styrofoam wrapped in tin foil ), and Carl with the help of some of his friends, took it down at the end of the dance and took it home. At the 10 year class reunion, we were all surprised when Carl brought in the moon! We all signed it. It was such an imaginative, thoughtful thing to do. It's one of my favorite memories of him...with that big smile, holding the moon.
To Sonja, Mid, Al, Susan I'm so sorry for your loss, Carl was taken way too soon. I hope all of our love for Carl helps in some way to ease your grief.

We are so sorry to hear of Carl's sudden death. We remember the kind and happy fellow he was in high school. In the summer of 2016, Sheila and I were staying at Nancy and Harold's when Carl buzzed up in his shiny corvette. It was wonderful to see him again and talk like it was just yesterday.
We hope that his love and your memories will grow in your hearts and minds as you grieve this great loss. Much love to all of you and your families.

It's hard to believe...I'm really shocked and sorry to hear that.
He was a nice man,
and besides work, we joked around all the time.
He was outgoing, humorous and inspirational.
This is the unforgettable lesson from him.
"When is the best time to plant a tree?
Ten years ago.
When is the second best time to plant a tree?
Right now..."
Carl. I miss you. I won't forget you.
Rest in peace.

In your life, thru the years, you will meet people who will mold you to the person that you are today. There will be more than 1 of these people and at different times thru your life. But, they will be there and you will not know it until you lose one of these people and step back from your busy, stressful, fast paced lives and reflect on the memories that you shared with these people.
Carl, to me was one of these people. Since I was talking to him last week I was shocked to hear of his passing and after a couple of days it finally sunk it and I broke down and I sat and started thinking of the history that I had with a close friend that I once had and did not realize it.
I remember us walking back and forth to school together, talking, laughing and going on, playing ball hockey on Summit Ave, sliding down Broadview Ave on our krazy carpets in the winter and wagon races or doing bikes jumps on Berdies lawn in the summer without helmets and across possible traffic (lucky we were not hurt or worse). He was the one that got me interested in music to which my ole man wasn't keen on. I remember jigging school to go fishing over the hill, biking almost everyday one summer to play golf at Roachville Golf Course (to which he got me involved in).
I remember the parties we did in our teens with all of friends in the class of 78, whether at a campground, someone's house or at a bar. He was always laughing or joking with that infectious smile he had that you always loved to be around.
I remember sharing an apartment at Century 21 in Saint John with him where he taught me how to cook and showed me how to do my laundry and how to be independent. Just to today my wife thanked me for breakfast which I told her might not have happened if it was not for Carl Davis.
I remember being in a few situations with Carl in Saint John where we both had our fists ready and cocked and had each others back.
As times moves on which happens to a lot of us, we have families move on or move away and lose touch with the people we were once very close to which is a sad and true reality of life. So Carl, Thank you for being part of my life I wish I could have told you all this before you left us and someday I will. Love you and will miss you, Cliffy.
