Obituary of Aiton Warren McQuinn
Mr. Aiton Warren McQuinn was born in Sussex on September 6, 1947; he was the son of the late Aiton and Nita (Brown) McQuinn.
Aiton married the love of his life, Lorraine in June of 1968. They would continue their love story with two beautiful children and many years later, five grandchildren. He loved his family very much and enjoyed every second he spent watching them grow up. He was very proud of his children and his grandchildren were the joy of his heart.
He was a kind hearted, simple, hard working man. He attended the Technical School in Saint John studying mechanics. At the age of 20, he began his apprenticeship as an electrician and by the age of 25 was a journeyman. He worked for 31 years for the PCS Mines. He was the Mine Maintenance Supervisor at the time of his retirement in 2013.
Aiton was a jack of all trades and when it came to working with his hands there was nothing he couldn't do; from mechanics to carpentry he was your man. He could fix anything and practically built the family home in Knightville; as well as two barns. Don't ask him to sit and do a crossword puzzle though, he was never idle very long.
Aiton loved being outdoors whether it was on the water - boating, on the trail - four wheeling, on his beloved Harley or on the ski hill. He was a member of the Horse Show Association, an instructor at Poley Mountain and a member of the Ski Patrol (even having won a provincial award for best patroller). He was an avid hunter and would be the first one to tell you that all that time he spent at the shooting range paid off; because he was a great shot.
He will live on in the hearts of his loving wife of 49 years, Lorraine; his children: Tara McQuinn of Sussex and Shane McQuinn (Molly Mills) of Belleisle Creek; his sister, Joanne London (Jim) of Hampton; his grandchildren: Quinn Geldart, Jacie Black, Brody Black, Jahnee McQuinn and Jordee McQuinn; his mother-in-law, Edna (Cherry) Field; his sister-in-law, Gloria House (Seth) of Picadilly; his nieces and nephews: Tony, Andrew and Jennifer London, Jeremy House (Toni), Miranda Thomson (Will) and Emily House.
He is predeceased by his father-in-law, Donald Field.
