Mrs. Betty Ann Mallery was born in Sussex on February 19, 1953; she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Dorothy (Holmes) Hawthorne. She was a member of the Sussex Corner Bowlers, she loved to knit, cook and play ball in earlier years. She loved her summer place in Newfoundland "River Ponds" and was known for her pies, cakes and cookies. Throughout her life she worked for the Kiwanis Nursing Home, Home Hardware, Kay's Corner Store and Walter's Snowmobile Shop Betty will live on in the hearts of her beloved husband, Walter Mallery; her daughter, Krista Munroe and her husband Shawn of Saint John; her brothers: Herman Hawthorne and his wife Rena of Penobsquis, Bobby Hawthorne and his wife Linda of Sussex; Dean Hawthorne and his wife Dale of Sussex and George Hawthorne and his wife Bev of Sussex; her sisters: Louise Stanwix and her husband Paul of Sussex and Ivy Cosman and her husband Kennis of Mercer Settlement; her granddaughter, Alexandra; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Harry. Betty Ann Mallery of Springdale passed away at the Sussex Health Center on January 18, 2011 at the age of 57.
