Obituary of Eldon Brown

Mr. Eldon Brown was born in Saint John on March 13, 1923, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Bernice (McDonald) Brown and was the husband of the late Mary (Boyle) Brown who passed away November 27th, 2009. Eldon was a World War II veteran and as part of the 2nd Royal Canadian Armoured Brigade took part in the D-Day landings on June 6th, 1944, seeing combat duty in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. After the war, Eldon joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in various locations across Canada. In 1963, Eldon and Mary left the armed forces and moved their young family back to Poodiac to take over the family farm where they lived for the next 46 years. Eldon was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Branch #20 of the Royal Canadian Legion, and The Sussex G.R.S. Radio Club. Apart from many years of farming, he also worked as a mechanic and millwright in the Sussex area. Eldon will live on in the hearts of his sons: Anthony and his wife Marlene of Norton, Adrian and his wife Lorraine of Kanata, ON and Keith and his wife Rose of Salt Springs, NB; his daughters: Marcene Porelle and her husband Paul of Moncton and Cheryl Ellis and her husband Harvey of Quispamsis; his daughter-in-law, Grace Brown of Orleans, ON; 11 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, five sisters: Doris McGinnis of Southfield, Audrey Sands of Saint John, Helen Gallant of Sussex, Phyllis Gallant and Florence Enright and her husband Lorne all of Saint John; two brothers: Edward Brown and his wife Anne of Lakewood, and Maurice Brown and his wife Teresa of Lakewood; as well as several nieces and nephews; his sister-in-law, Lucy McGivery of Bloomfield Ridge, NB. Eldon is predeceased by his eldest son Allison who passed away June 6, 1996, his grandson, Timothy Porelle who passed away July 28, 1977, his sister, Theresa Brown who passed away December 26, 2010, his sister-in-law Helen Marks, his brothers-in-law, Robert Gallant, Urban Gallant, Lawrence Sands, Gerald McGinnis, Stephen Boyle and Goldwyn Boyle.
