Obituary of Ramona Grace (Martin) (Berry) Graves

Mrs. Ramona Grace (Martin) (Berry) Graves was born in Stewarton, NB on January 9, 1931; she was the daughter of the late Alexander Martin and Elma (Marks) (Martin) Hall.

Ramona was a hardworking woman, she spent her days raising three exceptional daughters and keeping her spare time busy with many jobs. She worked as a caregiver in people's homes, waited tables at Uncle Fred's,  she was a cook at Drury Cove Irving, a launderer at Paul's Laundry, she worked at the Cream Puff Bakery and also at the Four Corners Tourist Bureau to name a few.

Ramona was a very kind woman who believed in giving to others and deeply loved her family and was devoted to her Church.

She loved plants, bowling, learning to use her computer and had a passion for anything she could do to keep her hands busy, whether it was sewing, knitting, crocheting or quilting.

Ramona was a proud member of her community and loved to be active in it. She was even involved in the Community Based Policing. She a member of the Lower Millstream Women's Institute and held all offices while she was there. She also served as President and Treasurer of the Sussex Vale District W.I. and Convener for the Provincial W.I.. She was a member of the Norton Seniors and a driver for the St. John Ambulance. While a member of the St. John Ambulance, Ramona took a course certifying her as a Casualty Simulator.

Many years after their first meeting, Ramona and Leslie ended up at the bowling alley. She said she watched him for about a year and when she needed a date for the St. John Ambulance Christmas Party, she asked him. He said yes and they have were inseparable until his passing in 2012.  Neither of them had a formal wedding with their first marriages, so they decided to go for a full traditional wedding. Ramona wore a beautiful wedding dress and the church was full. This was a dream come true.

Ramona will live on in the hearts of her three daughters; Elizabeth O'Donnell and Douglas of Apohaqui, Shirley Hines of Moncton and Nancy Hale of Elmwood; her brother, Fred Martin and his wife Helen of Barrie, ON; her sisters: Betty Adair of Penobsquis and Sandra Kierstead and her husband Ray of Sussex Corner; her sisters-in-law: Gwen Martin of Vancouver, Juanita Martin of Saint John and Joyce Griffiths of Norton; her grandchildren: Andrew O'Donnell and his wife Darlene, Peter O'Donnell and his wife Ellen, Christopher O'Donnell and his wife Ronda, Nicholas O'Donnell and his wife Tanya, Rhonda Janes and Jennifer Hines and her husband James Swindell; her great-grandchildren: Jesse, Emily, Isaac, Matthew, Owen, Declan and Parker; as well as several nieces and nephews.
