Obituary of Ruth Madeline Campbell
Mrs. Ruth Campbell was born in Mount Middleton on April 11, 1921. She was the daughter of the late George and Lucy (Thompson) Hornbrook.
Ruth was a feisty and independent woman with a constant gleam in her eye and a zest for life. She worked for the T.S. Simms Brush Factory in Saint John for many years, where she met the love of her life, Carl Campbell. On September 3, 1963 they would marry and continue their love story for many years until Carl's passing in 1997. They used to love to travel together.
She had a love of reading, coloring and spending long days in her garden. She also had an undeniable affection for cats and never missed the chance to watch Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
Ruth was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She will live on in the hearts of her nieces, Linda Ellison, Elizabeth Pearson and Carol Heppell; her nephews, Ronald and Robert Hornbrook; as well as several grand nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Ruth Campbell of Sussex, formerly of Saint John passed away at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on February 5, 2018 at the age of 96.
Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Carl; her sisters: Mary Heppell, Bernice Hornbrook and Laura Hornbrook; her brother, James Hornbrook and by her nephew, Brian Heppell.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex NB (506-433-1176) . At Ruth's request no visitation will be held. A graveside service will take place in the spring.
