Obituary of Wanda "Aulay" Sample

Mrs. Wanda "Aulay" Sample was born in Bearbrook, Nova Scotia on June 10, 1921,she was the daughter of the late Stanford and Mary (MacAskill) Fraser.

Aulay was a hardworking woman; working as the manager of Eaton's after the war. Later, she would meet and marry the love of her life, Benvie and she would spend her days raising five exceptional children and keeping her spare time busy working as the district distributor of the Telegraph Journal or her time spent with Royal Gardens - she was always busy. She was also a Sunday School Teacher with St. Paul's United Church for many years.

She had a passion for baseball and probably knew all the players for the Toronto Blue Jays better than they knew themselves, up until a few years ago. She could even dictate their stats from memory. She had such a love for the sport that when Benvie coached the local minor league, Aulay even did stats for the team.

Aulay loved to cook and was very handy with a set of needles, whether it was sewing clothing from scratch for her kids or teaching them how to knit backwards.

She was a Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend. She will be dearly missed by all the lives she touched.

She will live on in the hearts of her children: Stanford Sample of Penobsquis, Susan Sample of Coles Island, Kenneth Sample of Irish Settlement, Michele Sample of Irish Settlement and Bonny Sample of Ontario; her sister, Fayne MacNeil of Ontario; her grandchildren: Chris, CJ, Marcie, Kyle, Benjamin, Samantha, Sarah, Candice, Samantha, Mitchell, Jennifer, Selena, Kristine and Danny; her great grandchildren: Alex, Annabelle, Abigail, Amanda, Aisha, Chance, Brian, Marcus, Tristan, Melanie, Isabelle, Julia, Danielle, Jacob, Cameron and Jewels; as well as several nieces and nephews.
