Charles Fisher

Obituary of Charles Francis Fisher

Mr. Charles Francis Fisher was born on January 24, 1933; He was the son of the late Alburn and Mabel (O'Donnell) Fisher.

As a child he spent quite a bit of time at the Shriners Hospital in Montreal having corrective surgery done for his spasticity.   He was always very grateful to the Shriners and he really appreciated the care he received there. Due to his significant cerebral palsy he never had the chance to work but his limited mobility did not seem to slow him down.

Charlie enjoyed gardening and always had lots of flowers around.  He  also went trout fishing with his brother and father  and despite his limited ability to cast a line he often caught the most fish.  He spent a lot of time during the summer and fall at their camp in Mechanic Lake.

When he was younger he would bike around Sussex on his 3 wheeled bike.  He was very outgoing and enjoyed meeting people on his travels and spending quality time with his cat, "Blackie". Charlie had a love for people and  great conversation and he enjoyed taking photos of his flowers and friends that came to visit.

He always enjoyed watching hockey games and cheered for both the Montreal Canadians and the Toronto Maple Leafs.  He liked to watch old movies and loved listening to Country music. After his mother's passing Charlie had an apartment on Golding St. in Sussex for many years, where he made many friends.

He really appreciated the care and kindness he received from his home care workers.  His passion for life and his love of people will live on in the hearts of those he has left behind.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Charles is survived by his nephew, Bob Fisher and his wife Nancy of Saint John and their children Benjamin and Megan and by his niece, Susan Little and her husband Peter of Quispamsis and her children: Heather, Ryan and Jeffrey.
