Obituary of Dorothy Viger
Dorothy Viger was born in Saint John, NB on April 11, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy E. (Ellis) Cole and the wife of the late Charles E. Viger who passed away in 1999.
Dot loved family and several of her friends grew to be like family to her. She was the one that many called to find out whose birthday or anniversary was coming up. It was all there in her "little black book". She enjoyed using her creative side to make functional items. A few years ago, you would find her busy working on another quilt or creating the top for her next one.
She married Charlie in August of 1949 and by November of 1950, she and Charlie welcomed their first child. Four more followed but sadly their first boy died in infancy. Dot's door was always open and visitors were met with a cup of tea and a slice of cake. She delighted in being a mother and, as their brood thinned out, she and Charlie became foster parents. A small woman with a huge heart. She will be missed by many.
Dot will live on in the hearts of her daughter, Sharon Parsons of Hammonds Plains NS; three sons: Michael of Coles Island, Leslie and Kevin and his wife Kathleen all of Edmonton; two brothers: Frank Cole and his wife Irene of Cambridge Narrows, Bob Cole and his wife Joan of Saint John; her sister, Beatrice Burrell of Summerside PEI; five grandchildren: Grant and Craig Delaney, Amanda Parsons and Kailey and Cole Viger; her honorary granddaughter Samantha Evans, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Dorothy Elizabeth Viger of Route 715 Coles Island, passed away at the Oromocto Hospital on January 13, 2011 at the age of 80.
Dorothy was predeceased by an infant son Michael Charles who passed away in 1952, four sisters: Amy Johnson, Evelyn Cole, Marjorie Greensled and Jane Moski and by four brothers: Herbert, George, Bill and Phillip Cole.
