Obituary of Murray Arthur Welton

 

It is with sadness that the family of Murray Arthur Welton, age 89, husband of Geneva (Fairweather) Welton, announces his death which occurred on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the Mill Cove Nursing Home.  He was born on May 25, 1928, in Hatfield Point, NB, a son of the late Arthur (Evelyn) and Florence (Clark) Welton. 

After the passing of his mother, Murray was raised by his grandmother, Lottie Welton who passed away in 1961.  He grew up with a strong foundation and work ethic, retiring from the DOT as a backhoe operator after many years.

Murray had a passion for music and took great enjoyment from playing the organ and being a member of the Upper Cumberland Bay Church. In his earlier years, he also loved to fish, was an avid gardener and a wonderful cook.

Murray is survived by his wife, Geneva of 65 years; son Darrell Welton and his wife Linda MacDougall of Cumberland Bay, NB; daughters Faye Hargreaves and her husband Eric of Cumberland Bay, NB, Terrie Olsen and her husband Chuck of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren Jason, Aaron, Nathan, Branden, Madison; great-grandchildren Dominic, Chloe, Jacob, Scarlett; brothers Fred (Phillis) Welton, Danny (Eileen) Welton; sisters Muriel (Jon) Duffy, Mary Cole; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Donald, John and Charles.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex NB (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Sunday, May 13, 2018 from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8pm.  The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 14, 2018 11:00am from the Cumberland Bay Baptist Church.
