Obituary of George MacDonald

It is with heavy hearts that the family of George King MacAuley MacDonald, age 85, husband of the late Leona (Teakles) MacDonald announces his death which occurred on Friday, May 25, 2018 at the Kiwanis Nursing Home with his family at his side.  He was born on November 16, 1932 in Searsville, NB, a son of the late David and Verna (MacAuley) MacDonald.

George married the love of his life, Leona E. Teakles in February 1957. They shared 60 years of love and enjoyed planting a huge garden yearly, snowmobiling, four wheeling, camping, fishing, hunting partridge, deer and moose. George and Leona did alot of these activities with their grandchildren, along with attending all the sports their grandchildren played. George taught his children to play by ear. Starting on the cord organ, then the guitar, mandolin, base and rums, George was a member of the Town and Country Orchestra for many years and our family was added to the group. George took the family group to play for many square dances, shows and fundraiser events. Leona looked after the outfits.

Family was everything to George and Leona.

George worked at Lawson Motors for 26 years and then retired from Potash Company of Saskatchewan after 14 years.

He is survived by his son Leonard MacDonald and his wife April of Ratter Corner, NB; daughters Lynda Lee McGivery and her husband Bob of Sussex, NB, Georgie McGinnis and her husband Francis of Ratter Corner, NB, Wendy Murray and her husband Jim of Picadilly, NB; grandchildren Morley, Jay, Lexi MacDonald; Amanda McGivery (Richard), Dr. Kyle McGivery (Robyn); Darren McGinnis (Heather), Bret McGinnis (Amanda), Carter McGinnis (Samantha); Mitchell Murray (Kayla), Cory Murray, Madison Murray; great-grandchildren Jacob and Rylee McGinnis; sister Ruby (Dave) Morrison; sister-in-law Gertrude MacDonald; as well as several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his brothers Roy MacDonald, Ken MacDonald, Ronald MacDonald and sisters Flora Armstrong, Verna Patterson and Alice Chambers
