Obituary of Bernetta Reid
Bernetta Gertrude Reid, age 84, of Apohaqui Heritage Residence went home to her Lord on Thursday, June 7, 2018 at the Sussex Health Centre. She was born on January 9, 1934.
As a young girl Bernie lived in an orphanage with her brother, whom she lost touch with over the years. In 1963 Bernie moved into the home of George and Barb Curwin (Wright) and their children; George, Susan, (Cindy), Bruce, (Sheila), Gloria and (Colin).
Bernie’s heart was full of love for everyone and especially for God and the children she met. Bernie always greeted everyone with a smile. The little things in life made Bernie happy. She never asked for much in the way of material things but her stuffed animal collection was very important to her as was her music, Tommy Hunter, Charlie Pride and the Rankins to name a few.
Over the years Bernie looked after many children including the Curwin grandchildren, the Wheaton girls and the McKinnon children. Each of whom she loved and considered her family. Bernie made mittens for each of these children and for many others over the years. In 2004 Bernie moved to Apohaqui Heritage Residence where she become part of their extended family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) from where a Celebration of Bernie's life will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 10:30am.
