Obituary of Marlene Taylor

It is with sadness that the family of Marlene Joye Taylor, age 78, announces her death which occurred on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the Hospice House Fredericton.  She was born on August 18, 1939, in Rothwell, NB, a daughter of the late Walter and Olive (Brown) McAllister.

She attended Mill Cove Church of God and was a member of the Women’s Institute in Waterborough. In 1969 Marlene moved to Mill Cove.

Marlene started school in Newcastle Bridge and in Grade 2 she attended school in Minto. In November the family moved to Snider Mountain where Marlene attended the one room school until she finished Grade 8.  She continued her Grade 9 Education by correspondence. In 1983 – 1984 she studied finished the Food Service Manager’s program by correspondence. In 1984 she successfully completed the exams for this program in Ottawa. In 1987 – 1988 Marlene completed her High School Equivalency Certificate

Marlene had numerous jobs including house keeping, baby sitting, waitressing, snack bar attendant, cashier, store clerk and caring for the elderly. In 1981 she became Food Service Manager at Mill Cove Nursing Home until her retirement in 2000.

Marlene had many interests, including doing crossword and other puzzles, knitting, sewing and crocheting. She had a love of music and enjoyed singing in the Gloria Dei Singers Choir consisting of members from many church denominations.

Marlene since retirement enjoyed travelling to such places as Regina and Vancouver Island. Over the years Marlene believed that life may not always seem fair however GOD is ALWAYS GOOD.

Marlene is survived by her son Reverend Lloyd Taylor and his wife Kim of Durham Bridge, NB; brother Ivan McAllister (Laurie Duguay) of Long Creek, NB; sisters: Mary Bird of Burtts Corner, NB; Lorna Kolls and her husband Fred of Campbell River, BC;  Brenda Fowlie and her husband Ron of Quispamsis, NB, Ellen Molloy and her husband Dennis of Codys,  Janice Chase and her husband Jeffrey of Chipman, NB;  brothers-in-law John Perry and his wife Lesley of Codys, NB; Ivan Young of Ripples, NB; as well as several nieces and nephews.  She is predeceased by her parents; infant son Laurel in 1966; best friend Ron McLaughlin; brothers: Walter, George, Lloyd and Aubrey McAllister; sister Judy Perry; sisters-in-law: Mary, Margaret, Viola McAllister and Freda Young; brother-in-law Dale Bird; extended family members; Ernest and Wilfred Jordan and Mabel MacBeth

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex (506-433-1176).  Visitation will be held from Mill Cove Church of God, 13 Ferris Road on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm and on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 from Capital Community Church, 71 Downing Street, Fredericton from 12:00 to 2:00pm with Funeral Service beginning at 2pm.  Interment will be held in Ripples United Pentecostal Church Cemetery.
