Obituary of Alice Muriel Ruth Guitar

Mrs. Alice Muriel Ruth Guitar was born in Rothesay, NB on March 20, 1942. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Treva (Yensen) Butland.

Alice loved family, coming from a time where your extended family was very important. Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Many trips to Alma and many reunions. Fundy Park was a place she loved to spend time in. Although she was born in Rothesay, she later moved to the West Side of Saint John and then lived in various parts of Saint John before moving to Sussex in 1974.

Known for her sense of humour and kindness, friendships came easy to Alice. While in Saint John she did office work and retail and went to work at Barbours and then to Canada Post in Sussex. She loved spending time with her grandkids. Over the years her interests including painting, reading and yoga. Later she joined the Senior Centre and Red Hats.

She is survived by her daughter, Lori MacLennan and her husband Wayne of Sussex Corner; her brother, Norval Butland of Rothesay; her sister-in-law, Colleen Butland of Saint John; her grandchildren: Micah MacLennan (Daniel Jeffries), Cale MacLennan and Barret MacLennan; as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family members and friends.

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Alice Muriel Ruth Guitar of Sussex Corner who passed away at the Sussex Health Center on July 8, 2018 at the age of 76.

She is predeceased by her husband, Clary Guitar who passed away in 1988; her brothers: Herman (Flo) Butland and Reginald Butland; her sister, Phyllis (Paul) Friars; her sister-in-law, Carol Butland and by her grandson, Mitchell Wayne.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex NB (506-433-1176). As per Alice’s request no visitation or funeral service will be held.
