Obituary of Ernest Hay
Mr. Ernest Hay was born in Williamsburg on October 28, 1935; He was the son of the late Charles and Phyllis (Gallagher) Hay. In his younger years, when he stopped attending school, his father took him to the woods to work. Chances are that this is where his love of the outdoors began.
On February 25, 1956 Ernest would marry the love of his life, Margery Dorcas and together they would celebrate 62 wonderful years of marriage along with raising their five beautiful children and the children and grandchildren that would follow years later. Ernest loved spending time with his family.
Ernest was a hardworking man and a jack of all trades. He drove transport truck and ran heavy equipment, hauled logs and dug ponds; he could run any piece of machinery you put in front of him and proud of it.
He had a passion for fishing and four wheeling. His idea of a vacation day with Margery was to take her out on the four-wheeler with picnic basket in hand. They both loved their time spent together in the woods.
He loved to play shuffleboard, darts, pool, and cards. Any game that he could cheat at, he would play, Ernest just hated to lose.
Ernest was a kind-hearted tease – with a stubborn streak and he loved to torment; even in the hospital he was always trying to torment the nurses.
He was a husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend and will be dearly missed.
He will live on in the hearts of his loving wife, Margery; their children: Kevin Hay and his wife Karen of Sussex, Larry Hay and his wife Sandra of Sussex, Lorraine Polley and her husband Kenneth of Sussex, Tina Jones and her husband Leslie of Moncton and Stuart Hay and Wendy Otis of Sussex; his brothers: Russel and his wife Ruth of Williamsburg, Raymond and his wife Ellen of Williamsburg, Clifford and his wife Edith of Fredericton, Murray and his wife Charlene of Fredericton, Ronnie and his wife Charlotte of Stanley and Brian and his wife Mary of Stanley; his grandchildren: Adam Hay, Eric Hay and his wife Danielle, Meranda Smith-Carter and her wife Danielle, Kyle Smith, Jarret Hay, Trevor Hay, Christopher Jones (Amanda), Matthew Jones, Rachel Hay, Brittany Hay, Nathaniel Hay (Brittany), Damian Otis, Cameron Otis and Adrian Otis; his great grandchildren: Hayden, Cohen, Clara, Eliott, Brandon and Hudson; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
