Obituary of Norma Hayes
Mrs. Norma Melinda Hayes was born in Kapuskasing, Ontario on November 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary (Martin) Henderson and was the wife of the late Herbert "Jack" John James Hayes who passed away on February 17, 1986.
Norma was a wise, wonderful woman. She was a seeker of knowledge with a profound spiritual nature that encompassed many different beliefs. Besides Norma's love for family, music was her greatest passion; she lived and breathed it. She sang and played many different instruments and was light as a feather when she would step dance aka "Uncle Zeke." Norma had a great sense of humor and when she laughed you could feel it coming from deep within her soul. Towards the end of her life she radiated a love and peace that was truly inspirational. She was strong in spirit and promised that she would always be around to comfort her loved ones; maybe even showing up as a "mourning dove" in times of distress. Norma was the definition of what it means to be creative. She was a self taught mobile hairdresser, seamstress, meat cutter, children's music teacher, song writer and she was also an excellent carpenter. She was a member of the Town and Country Jamboree, a fiddle group and a three generation band with her daughter Kate and her grandsons Jesse and Morgan. Norma was open to vast complexities of the universe but chose simplicity as her way of life. She loved collecting her thoughts while walking in the beauty of nature and her favorite resting place was near the river where all her life problems simply floated away. Norma had the most wonderful smile and cheerful nature that she was truly a blessing to everyone she has known.
Norma will live on in the hearts of her children: Juanita Clark, Sandy Hirth and her husband Norbert, Kate Thorne, Tony Hayes and Jerry Hayes and his wife Lynda; her grandchildren: Andre and Angie Clark, Jesse and Morgan Thorne and Lydia Hayes; her brothers: Harold Henderson and his wife Beryl, Kenny Henderson and Marie Deville, Ralph Henderson and his wife Lynn and Jim Henderson and his wife Edie; her sisters: Helen Brown, Irma Floyd and her husband Frank, Rena Hayes and her husband Pat, Marilyn Bennett and her husband Clifford and Alma Loughery and her husband Art;as well as several nieces and nephews.
Norma was predeceased by two brothers: George and John
