Obituary of John MacKinnon

 

The family of John Arnold MacKinnon of the Dr. V.A. Snow Centre Hampton, formerly of Sussex, regret to announce his passing on Monday August 27th, 2018 at the Dr. V. A. Snow Centre in Hampton. Born in New Jerusalem 86 years ago he was the son of the Late Herbert Stanley and Mabel Jane (Webb) MacKinnon.
 
John is survived by his two brothers; George McKinnon (Mary) of Upperton and Elton McKinnon of Hillsdale, four sisters; Vera Seeley of Hammondvale, Muriel Warren of Dartmouth, NS, Romelda Brown of Liverpool, NS and Glenna Richardson (Harry) of Saint John, several nieces, nephews and special friends; Jimmy and Janet Gass and their children; Evan, Andrew and Ryan. John was predeceased his parents and by three brothers; Edward, Ronald and Raymond, one sister; Jean Bunn, four brothers-in-law; Herbert Bunn, Gerald Seeley, James Warren and Garfield Brown.
 
John loved to garden and was a regular at all the local baseball and hockey games.  John found his calling as a preacher and worked as a missionary in India for several years. He worked for Canada Packers, farming and driving truck for several companies including Shur-Gain. He also cared for horses and ran trail rides in Belleisle. John also went to California to work on the Rose Bowl Parade floats.
 
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 2-4 & 6-8pm.
 
A celebration of John's life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at11:00am.
 
The interment will take place in Trinity Cemetery, followed by a time of fellowship with the family at the funeral home.
 
Memorial donations may be made to any charity of the donor's choice.
