Obituary of Sterling Gregg

Sterling E. Gregg came into this world on March 2, 1952 to Harley and Catherine (Almon) Gregg. He was born during a massive snow storm in Whites Mountain, NB into a family of 21 children. He grew up in a hard time, but Sterling was a strong willed person who never let that slow him down.

His schooling dates were short so he headed to work in the woods at a young age. He soon decided this was not for him.

One day while passing Ken’s Auto Body in Plumweseep he decided to stop and see if he could find work, so Ken asked him to come back Monday morning and give it a try for a couple of weeks. Sterling was a fast learner and soon proved his diligence, hard work ethic and willingness to learn. He remained there for 15 years until Ken’s retirement. Here he met the love of his life, Cindy and soon Ken became his father-in-law.

The Rossiter family welcomed Sterling in as one of their own.

In 1986, Sterling and Cindy welcomed their son, Jonathan into the world and brought great joy to their lives. Sterling started his own business known as “S&J Auto Repair” and Jonathan spent many days in the shop with his father; however, it became evident that he enjoyed the mechanics part of the automotive industry while his father’s passion was auto body and painting.

Sterling loved his 1972 Chev and his 1977 Trans Am which he took such great pride in. Sterling was a die-hard Toronto Maple Leaf fan and never gave up the chance to get his “dig” in to ALL Montreal fans!

In 2008, Cindy and Jonathan surprised Sterling with tickets to go to his first Toronto/Montreal game and he had a great time. He was fortunate to attend a few games again since then. 2008 was also the year that Sterling and Cindy decided to become seasonal campers at Mohawk Camping in Waterborough. There they met the greatest circle of close-knit friends they were proud to call their “Mohawk Family”. Sterling loved their time together there!

“I say to my dearest Sterling, fly high with the angels and wait for me- as I will join you by and by.”  - Your Loving Wife, Cindy
