Obituary of Philip Ashley Keith
Mr. Philip Ashley Keith was born in Petitcodiac on August 14, 1951; he was the son of Gwendolyn (Patterson) Keith and the late Harley Burton Keith.
Philip was first and foremost a family man. There was nothing more important to him than time spent surrounded by those he loved. He always spoke of each of his children with such pride and admiration and the look of love in his eyes every time he looked at Shirley was unmistakable. His second love of course was plowing. He was the Past President of the NBPA (New Brunswick Plowmen's Association) and drove across the country for plowing. He took great pride in the time he spent in the fields and especially the bonding time spent with his children. He was also a member of the Sussex Golf and Curling Club, former President of the Sussex Skating Club and former president of the Hampton Figure Skating Club.
Philip was a hardworking man, whether it was his time spent plowing, working as a mechanic at Clark's for 13 years and at the PCS mine for 28 years underground from which he retired in 2011. In his younger years, he loved to go drag racing, later turning to golf, working at the woodlot, woodworking projects and restoring antique tractors. He was never idle.
He loved a good joke and was always quick to tease or poke fun, but never in a malicious way. Philip had a kind and loving heart and a contagious laugh and smile that would warm you from the inside out. He was always the first to give the shirt off his back for someone in need. He will be deeply missed by all those whose lives he has touched.
He will live on in the hearts of his wife, Shirley; their children: Matthew of Toronto, Steven and his wife Katelyn of Quispamsis and Jennifer Keith and Nicholas Morrell and his son, Lucas of Roachville; his granddaughter, Arwyn; his mother, Gwennie of Salisbury; his sisters: Lucille Lepage and her husband Bob of Prince George, Ada MacLeod and her husband Evan of Bathurst; his brothers: Burton and his wife Judy of Havelock and Barry and his wife Cindy of Petitcodiac; as well as several nieces and nephews.
