Obituary of Arthur T.R. Cruickshank

Mr. Arthur Thomas Reid Cruickshank was born in Havelock on March 15, 1944; he was the son of James and Marjorie (Brown) Cruickshank.

Arthur was a man that was loved by all.

He was a man of very few words and a quiet demeanour, but he didn't let that stop him when he took it upon himself to tease Doris, the love of his life, his children, grandchildren or basically anyone he felt could use a little bit of teasing to lighten their day.

To say he loved his family dearly would be an understatement, they were his pride and joy.  His face would immediately light up when they walked through the door.

He was a very hard worker and I am sure if you were to ask any of his co-workers from over the years, they could attest to that. Arthur had a lot of health issues over the years, but he still didn't let that stop him from doing the things he loved. Arthur loved carpentry and woodworking and his ever exciting world of Word Find.

He had a passion for being in the fields picking all kinds of berries: Strawberries, Blackberries and Raspberries; which lead to his other passion of pickling, making jams and jellies, soups and even banana bread (with too many ingredients) on occasion. He loved his garden and even though it was not very big, it was his and it made him so happy to work in it.

He had a strong faith and was a faithful member of Abundant Life Church. He loved his church family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris; his children: Lyle Cruickshank of Surrey, BC, Blynn Cruickshank and his wife Annette of Apohaqui, Dana Cruickshank of Riverbank and Stephanie LaKing and her husband Raymond of Sussex; his sisters: Elsie Keith and her husband Art and Arlene Geldart and her husband Henry; his brother, Allen and his wife Jean; his grandchildren: Cole Cruickshank, Candace McLean, Carter Cruickshank and Rachel, Cody Cruickshank, Hannah Cruickshank, Bronwyn Cruickshank, Jessie Vincent and her husband Storm, Cortney McLean, Emily LaKing and Zachary LaKing; his great grandchildren: James Cruickshank and John Cruikshank; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Arthur Thomas Reid Cruickshank of Smiths Creek passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on October 8, 2018 at the age of 74.

He was predeceased by his sisters: Ella and Edith and by an infant sister, Dianne.
