Obituary of Joan E. Munford
Peacefully, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Mrs. Joan Elizabeth Munford went to be with her Lord and Saviour on November 2, 2018. Born in Saint John on May 2, 1938, she was the loving wife of the late William H. Munford and daughter of the late William and Gertrude (Meadus) Day.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Janet Murray (Dan Keleher); sons Bruce Munford (Melody), Randy Munford (Donna), Todd Munford, Glen Munford (Natasha); grandchildren Jeff, Jason and Chelsea Murray, Joe, Tyler and Cody Munford, Riley, Nick Munford and Shauna Thibodeau, Jaska, Moses, Myles and Joy Munford; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters Phyllis Chase, Eleanor Thomas, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Bill in 2007, sisters Eileen Neal, Evelyn Mills; brothers Lloyd, Roy and Frank Day.
Joan grew up in Saint John, on Hawthorne Ave. where she literally met and married the boy-next-door in 1958. They were each other’s first and only true love and they would share the next 48 years together, raising 5 children and moving to Sussex in 1978.
Joan was a stay-at-home Mom who lived a simple life dedicated to her Lord and her family. She was active in the Anglican Church, including St. Paul's and St. Mary & St. Bartholomew's in Saint John and then with Trinity Anglican Church in Sussex after moving there in 1978. She served in many capacities in the church, including decades of service as a member of the Trinity Church choir, ACW, Mother's Union and Chancel Guild. She also served as a Lay Reader. She was a member of the Gideons for over 25 years and served as a Volunteer with the Sussex Sharing Club for over 25 years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home (506-433-1176), 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB where visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8PM. The funeral service will be held from Trinity Anglican Church on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 11:00AM with The Rev. Canon Tom Stradwick presiding. Interment will take place in Trinity Anglican Cemetery, Sussex.
