Obituary of Doris E. Sproul
It is with sadness that the family of Doris Eliza Sproul announces her death which occurred on Sunday, December 2, 2018 at the Sussex Health Centre. She was born in Penobsquis, NB on June 14, 1928, a loving wife of the late Earl S. Sproul and daughter of the late Lester and Birdie (Dunfield) Smith.
Doris enjoyed various interests such as gardening, raising her hens and meat kings. She was previously involved in the Pythian Sisters, Explorers, Brownies, and volunteering at the Library and at the Learning Center. Doris spent many hours of knitting items for the family and friends, as well as quilting special gifts for the kids and grandkids.
Crossword puzzles were a favorite daily ritual for Doris. She was an avid reader covering a wide array of topics. Most important to Doris was the time she enjoyed with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Last but not least, Doris had a warm welcome for whoever came through the door.
She will be lovingly remembered by her five daughters: Carol Anne Arsenault of Portage Vale, Cathy Bannister of Portage Vale, Brenda Bannister and her husband David of Portage Vale, June Friars and her husband Derek of Sussex Corner, Jackie Sproul and Robert Seaman of Parkindale; daughter-in-law Mary Ann Sproul of Jefferies Corner; ten grandchildren: Kimberley (David), Darcy (Mike), Zackary, Kate (Anthony), Tilly (Trevor), Andrew, Carrie (Robert), Edward (Anneke), Robert (Jean), Krista (Craig); several great-grandchildren; sister Verna Dunfield; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her son Stan; her granddaughter Ashley and sister Leona Weninger.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home (506-433-1176), 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB where visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 from 4 to 8PM. The funeral service will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at 11:00AM. Interment will take place in Portage Vale Cemetery.
