To Marg, Sally, Bob, and your families:
I was saddened to hear of Ruby’s passing. In her 97 years, she truly exemplified “a life well-lived”. I have many fond memories of Ruby as a neighbour across Pleasant Ave. during the first 11 years of my childhood in Sussex. She and my mother were dear friends and Ruby often visited with Mom in our kitchen. She was dedicated to family and wonderful with children. Neighbourhood kids enjoyed spending time with her, whether making crafts or just hanging around to chat.
Ruby’s genuine interest in and connection to people of all ages was evident in many ways over the years: as a businesswoman who loved to chat with her customers, as a local politician who worked tirelessly for her beloved town of Sussex, and as a community-building volunteer in many capacities who gave generously of her time and skills.
When visiting Sussex, I always enjoyed going to see Ruby, on my own or with others in my family - catching up about our lives and hearing about all the wonderful work she was doing. Ruby Gray has left a wonderful legacy and many great memories for all who loved her to cherish.

My deepest sympathies to Ruby’s family. She was a huge part of my childhood when I spent my summers at my grandparents’ house across the street from Ruby. She immediately appeared my first summer with two girls in hand so that I would have friends. She was also a very good friend to my mother, Iris, and they took many wonderful trips together with their friends, the girls. She sends her condolences to the family also. So many great memories for us and we know the family will get comfort from their memories as well.
