Obituary of Ina Davidson

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Hazel “Ina” Davidson, age 83, announce that she passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at the Kiwanis Nursing Home, Sussex, NB.  She was the daughter of the late Howard and Mary (Lynch) Tays and wife of Leslie Davidson.

Ina leaves behind her loving husband of 61years, Leslie; son Richard Davidson and his wife Helen of Guelph, ON; grandchildren Jason Davidson and his wife Gillian of Lucan, ON, Jessica Piaseczny and her husband Robert of Guelph, ON; great-granddaughter Madison Piaseczny; brothers: Reg (Pat) Tays of Whitby, FL, George (Elizabeth) Tays of Hampton, NB, Len (Raymonde) Tays of Niagara Falls, ON; sister Barbara (Aubrey) Brinkman of Gold River, BC; several nieces and nephews.

Ina grew up in the Passekeag/Bloomfield area of NB and was a member of the train gang, a group of students of Sussex High School who would take the train to school from various stops from Bloomfield to Sussex.  She graduated from Sussex High School in 1955 and went on to Business College in Saint John.

After a few years working in the Sussex area, Ina joined the office staff at G.E. Barbour’s Sussex, from where she retired some 30 plus years later.

She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s United Church for many years, which included teaching CGIT, being a UCW Lifetime Member and holding various other positions within the church.  Ina was also a member of the Sussex Fire Ladies.

Ina was a soft-spoken person who believed in actions over words.  She believed in the giving of her time for the well-being of others.  She never forgot a birthday, anniversary or any other special day.  She enjoyed Curling, Bowling and attending Geriatric Fitness classes.

Unfortunately, in the mid to late 2000’s Ina was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia.  After battling this at home, she entered the Kiwanis Nursing Home.  A sad ending for such a great person.  We have missed talking with Ina for many years.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex from where visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 5 to 8pm.   A celebration of Ina’s life will be held at Wallace Community Chapel on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at 2 P.M.

Donations in memory of Ina may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to the charity of your choice.  Condolences to the family and donations may be made through WallaceFuneralHome.com
