Obituary of Elaine Hogg

It is with heavy hearts that we announce to our friends and family the death of our beloved Elaine Marie Hogg, which occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on May 4, 2019. She was born on July 6, 1946 in Grand Manan, NB a daughter of the late James and Audrey (Shepherd) Ingalls and wife of the late Hugh Hogg.

Elaine spent the first six years of her life growing up on Grand Manan Island, steeped in rich family roots and traditions.  They moved around a fair bit as a family until settling in Saint John in her early teens, where she then met and married her best friend, Hugh, who had recently emigrated from Scotland.

She spent many of her days looking after her family, and yet she made time to volunteer as a youth leader, while living in New Brunswick and Quebec.  She also had a passion for music which was constantly streaming out of the home, whether it was her practicing the piano, or her sharing her musical talents in teaching many students over the years.  She was an active volunteer in Palliative Care at Strait Richmond Hospital in Cape Breton.  And later in life, following her passion for writing, haven written several books, including devotional books, local history books and her first children’s book – “Remembering Honey”, an award winning book.

She will be sadly missed by her two loving daughters, Heather (Bill) Austin of London ON; and Heidi (Al) Burns of Woodstock, NB; and her three grandchildren, Emily Inman of Calgary, Alicia Inman of Fredericton and Matthew Inman of Woodstock; great-grandchild Emery Dow; brothers Norman (Joanne) Ingalls, Laurie (Faye) Ingalls, Rev. Dr. Ranall (Sherry) Ingalls; along with several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex NB (506-433-1176).  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from10:00am to noon.  Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm, all from the Sussex Wesleyan Church, 280 St. George Street.

Donations in memory of Elaine may be made to the Kingswood Scholarship Fund or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through WallaceFuneralHome.com
