Obituary of Mary Josephine Chown
Mrs. Mary Josephine (Ashe) Chown was born in Upham on May 26, 1932. She was the daughter of the late Lemuel and Annie (Gould) Ashe.
Mary and Murton were married in July 1957 and would spend 61 wonderful years together. There was nothing more important to Mary than the love she had for her family.
She worked for Paul's Laundry and as a cook for Weaver's Cabaret. The greatest work she ever did was raising her children, whom were her pride and joy.
Mary had a passion for knitting, quilting, sewing and cards. She was a past member of the Ladies Orange Lodge and the Seniors Group.
She will live on in the hearts of her loving husband of 61 years, Murton; her sons: Bruce and his wife Roelfina of Wards Creek, Rick and his wife Elda of Elgin, Dale and his fiancé Joan St. Pierre of Sussex, Jerry and his wife Bonny of McGregor Brook and Michael and his wife Debbie of Berwick; her daughter, Carol Avery and her husband Lorne of Berwick; her sisters: Dorothy McEwen of Saint John and Jane "Bunny" Ashe of Nauwigewauk; her grandchildren: Wade Chown and his wife Deirdre, Ginette Cunningham and her husband Andrew, Lance Chown and his wife Sonia, Wayne McAllister and his wife Kristy, Shaunacie Campbell and her husband Derek, Ryan Chown, Nicole Alward, Heidi Chown and Serge Ringuette, Corey Chown, Brandon Chown and Madison Green, Devon Chown and Jasmine Barlow, Katie Slocum and Max Pitcher, Taylor Bartlett and Keenan Avery; her great grandchildren: Colton, Katrina, Nathan, Kelsey, Thomas, Alex, Charles, Jayden, Hannah, Fynn, Kayson, Hailey, Audrina, Sidney and Brody; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Mary Chown of Berwick passed away at the Sussex Health Center on May 23, 2019, three days short of her 87th birthday.
She is predeceased by her son, David; her sisters: Emma Bruhm, Anne Ashe and Joan Ashe; her mother and father-in-law, Myles and Mabel Chown; her son-in-law, David Bartlett and by her grandson, Brad Slocum.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). A service celebrating Mary's life will be held from Wallace Community Chapel on Monday, May 27, 2019 at 2:00pm.

The interment will take place in Kierstead Mountain Cemetery immediately following the service. A time of fellowship with the family will take place at the home of Murton and Mary.
