Obituary of H. Glenn Jeffery
Hollis Glennford Jeffery
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Glenn Jeffery announce his passing, which occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on July 9, 2019 at the age of 88.
Glenn was born in the family home in Bagdad, NB on March 24, 1931 and was the son of the late Thomas A. Jeffery and May Viola (Roberts) Jeffery. He resided in that very same home until the day he passed away.
In his younger working years, Glenn worked as a farmer – he loved driving his tractor.
He had a deep love for family and friends. He married the love of his life, Vera Mable Wood on April 12, 1958 and they would spend the next 54 years celebrating their love for one another, until Vera’s passing in November of 2012.
Aside from the time Glenn spent with Vera, his favorite place to be was in the woods – Whether it was driving the porter or time spent running his personal sawmill with Thomas. He lived for cutting down trees.
Glenn attended school until grade 6 at the small schoolhouse right across the road from his house and to this very day he held the nickname ‘Toad’ from his siblings and those close to him.
During his life Glenn was a dedicated husband and father; as well as an active member of his community and church. He worked in the woods most of his life and finally gave up the chainsaw when he was well into his eighties. In his later years, he loved nothing more than to putter around in his veggie garden; he loved to supply the neighbours with beans and zucchini.
He is survived by his loving children: Thomas Jeffery and his wife Lorna of Youngs Cove, Pamela Jeffery of Sidney, Australia and Derek Jeffery and his wife Sae of British Columbia; his sisters: Iris Ferris and Doris Warren; his brother, Trevor Jeffery and his wife Louise; his grandchildren: Kyle and Matthew; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by the love of his life, Vera (Wood) Jeffery; his brothers: Donald, Merlyn and Peter Jeffery and by his sister, Laura Magee.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). A Celebration of Glenn’s life will be held from All Saints Anglican Church, Bagdad (279 Bagdad Rd, Youngs Cove, NB) on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 1:00pm, with the interment immediately following.
