Dear Helen, Steve and Brenda - No family could have asked for a better husband, father or grandfather than Stan. He was (and still is) a legend at Poley Mountain after so many years of excellent teaching there. It was heart breaking to watch him decline over the past few years but each of you were wonderful caregivers to him and can have no regrets in any way. He is now with all those skiers from Poley who went before him - skiing down through powder fields with that big smile on his face. My deepest condolences - Audrey

Our sincere condolences to Helen and family at this difficult time. We have so many memories of Stan at the hill. From early days at Bloomfield to decades at Poley. A beautiful skier with a great smile who provided so much enjoyment to many. We have lost a true friend...the Lee-White Family

Helen, Stephen & Brenda,
Sonny was always one of my favorite uncles. His smile and kindness will always be a happy memory of mine. He always made me feel welcomed; skiing on the hill or swimming at your home. I'm so very sorry for your loss, he will be missed dearly.
I'm travelling and unable to attend the funeral to give you each a big hug. Just know that I'm thinking of you all, xo

Helen, Steve, Brenda and families: What a great pic of this great man!. That smile of his was his trademark and what I best remember of "Sunny" as some of us called him. When I think back, I recall being introduced to both softball and of course skiing by Sunny. He must have been quite an athlete in his early years. I also recall him sitting in front of the Ridge Street home day after day, warming up that little black Zepher, waiting for the ladies to join him for the trip "uptown" for work. I remember him joking and sipping home-brewed beer (on occasion), in Edgar Breau's basement. I even think that Edgar drew a portrait of Poley Mountain on one of the walls in that little party room. I wouldn't doubt if Sunny was the guy depicted skiing in that work of art !! He's led a great life, raised a great family and spent so many years following his passion, skiing and teaching so many of us how to enjoy this wonderful winter pastime. Condolences from Joanne and me. Peter LeBlanc

Helen, I have lots of great memories of you and Stan skiing at the Bloomfield Ski Hill so long ago. I asked my youngest son Greg if he remembered Stan, and he said, "Yes, I do remember Stan, and I actually did get a skiing lesson from him. If my memory is correct, the one and only lesson that I got from him formed the foundation of my skiing skills for the rest of my life. I still have very clear memories from that day with Stan :-)" My boys didn't get to Poley as much as they would have liked. Stan was a big influence on many people.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. God bless you all.

It is with a heavy heart that I send heartfelt sympathies on behalf of the children and staff at Sussex Early Learning Centre. It was a true blessing to watch the children during visits to Kiwanis seek out Sonny. They chose him. They raced for a seat beside him, brought him pictures and saved the best stickers for Sonny to wear. Children have an innate intuition that allows them to naturally support love and humanity that can’t be taught. Love is love to a child and Sonny was surrounded by it openly and honestly without a minute of hesitation by our children. They loved him and his name will float naturally from the children’s lips with joy.

Sorry for your loss, Helen, and family.
Stan was one of my best ski instructors, except when I asked him to follow me to see what I was doing wrong. not to follow him and learn.
We had a GREAT laugh, said he never thought of that.
Helen, I miss making your favorite drink in the Big box.
Stan loved all his time on the hill, especially the people.
We all will miss him.
