Obituary of Margaret "Peggy" Florence Pollock
Mrs. Margaret "Peggy" Pollock was born in
She moved to Camp Sussex with her family when her father became Camp Sussex’s Caretaker. Peggy went to school in Sussex graduating from Sussex High School in 1948. After graduation she went to work with the New Brunswick Telephone Co. As an operator.
She met the love of her life, Gordon Pollock while on a blind date. He was a farmer from Lower Millstream. They were married on January 21st, 1950. Peggy moved onto the farm in Lower Millstream with the Pollock family. Her first child was born the following year, Walter. Before settling on the farm in Upham they lived in Ontario and then came back to NB to settle on the farm in Upham where the family grew to 6. Five boys and one girl. Peggy also cared for many foster children over the years.
While raising the family Peggy was very involved with helping to run the farm, doing chores, gardening, picking berries and apples, running the house and feeding family and helpers on the farm. She was a member of St. Peters ACW. She volunteered at church and community events. She was a member of the local seniors group for many years. Peggy spent many hours quilting for the ACW and her family.
Around 1996 Peggy and Gordon retired from active farming and moved into their retirement home, to travel and enjoy their grandchildren. Her life was centered on her family and her church.
Peggy was a quiet and gentle soul, who loved her family and her fellow man deeply. She had a talent for avoiding and settling conflict. She loved a good laugh, quilting, gardening, music, exercise, going for walks, drives and eating chocolate.
When Peggy’s health deteriorated, she had many wonderful homemakers. We would like to say a special thank you to Ronda our main day angel, Naomi, Jenny and many others on the day crew. Cathy Gallant our pinch hitter. Jean, Ellen and Linda, the night angels whose dedication and compassion allowed Peggy to stay in her own home for almost three years which was her wish. These girls have become family. Everyone went above and beyond and it will never be forgotten.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She will live on in the hearts of her children: Walter Pollock and his wife Diane of Gardner's Creek, Richard Pollock and his wife Anita of Norton, Alan Pollock and his wife Karen of Upham, Daryl Pollock of Upperton, Kevin Pollock and Jennifer of Moncton and Wanda Reynolds and Danny of Colpitts Settlement; her grandchildren: Terry-Lynn Ward and her husband Rick, Stephanie Pollock-Black and her husband Anthony, Shawn Pollock and his wife Mallory, Shannon Pollock and her husband Rickard Bergman, Leanne Robertson and her husband Andrew, Tara Brown and her husband Nicholas, Kayla Pollock and Colton McPhee, Erin Pollock and Adam Brown, Kristi Pollock, Lacey Pollock, Tanner Pollock and Becca Hall, Jade Pollock, Samantha Pollock, Timothy Pollock, Talmon Pollock and Jonathan Pollock; her great grandchildren: Madison, Abby, Dallas, Brinley, Cohen, Calynn, Heath, Dawson, Norah and Polly; as well as several nieces and nephews.
