Obituary of Marion Francis
It is with sadness that we announce the death of Marion Irene Francis, age 89, wife of the late Roy Francis, which occurred on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at her residence. She was born on January 20, 1930, a daughter of the late Thomas and Annie (Corbett) McCullum.
Marion grew up in Dunn’s Corner and in 1953 moved to Norton and married Roy Francis in 1954.
Marion was a homemaker and raised her children and took care of her mother, father and husband in their final years. In Sussex Corner, Marion enjoyed gardening. She was also a Nana to over a dozen neighbourhood children she cared for, as well as her own grandchildren. Every child called her “Nana”.
Marion was a very caring, loving, and supportive person. Whenever someone needed a helping hand, she was there – most times with home cooking. She was famous for her homemade rolls.
Marion was so excited when her 1st great-granddaughter Jemma was born. She took great joy in looking at pictures of her taken by Colin and Kayla.
Marion looked forward to Stephen’s weekly visits with Tim Horton’s coffee and donuts – always sharing her donuts with Duke the dog.
Marion is survived by her daughter Nancy (Dan) Nelson of Fredericton, sons: Stephen (Peggy) Francis of Norton, NB, Mark (Lorna) Francis of Sussex; a special friend who was like a son, David (Sheila) Greer of Quispamsis; grandchildren: Melissa (Mark) Aubin, Colin (Kayla) Francis, Jeremy Francis, Justin Francis; three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Gerna McCullum; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her brother Don McCullum.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex NB (506-433-1176). Funeral Service will be held from St. Paul’s United Church on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at 2:00PM, followed by a private family interment in Riverbank Cemetery.
