I have to say thank you Jarvis !
It was so nice to spend time with Jarvis and Lois the summer of 2018. We talked and told stories of days at the rink. Life on Church Ave. If it was not for Jarvis, I may not have ever played hockey. All the days and nights at your home. Jarvis would tell me to run home and then call to see how fast I could run/bike down Church Ave....it was not for time, rather to make sure I got home safe. When I think of Sussex, Jarvis and Lois are among the top people I think of.

Condolences to the McQuinn family.
I can not think of anyone I have known so long that brings only positive memories to mind.He was flawless. I remember how patient and helpful he was with me when I was a little boy buying test tubes and other paraphernalia at Sharp's Drug Store for my childhood lab experiments. I saw him recently doing some of his charity work and thought how ageless he looked. Jarvis was a gentleman to admire and seek to emulate. I will always remember him!

Famous, likable, influential and good people are known by their first names...Wayne, Hulk, Pope....if you say the word 'Jarvis' aloud in Kings County people knew who you were talking about.
Could not buy smokes at Sharp's as Jarvis would see and know...but probably would not tell....but...couldn't take the chance.
Remember driving to St. Andrews with Lois and Jarvis for hockey in that blue Rambler Station wagon....may have been the year we won it all...Shaun.
My Moms, Ann Wallace, can't send a card but knows of Lois and Jarvis's passing and is sad......Thoughts are with the Church Avenue crowd at 158 from John and Danny at 122 if I remember correctly from 50 years ago.

I still remember him bringing meds to my place in the winter and having to wade the snow( it was quite deep) to get to the front door.

I grew up in Sussex and knew your parents as kind, loving and genuine people. Your father was certainly special. He tipped his hat to all the ladies on the street and even me! I have numerous memories of jokes he played, always so much fun! Condolences on the passing of your loved one, highly respected & much loved by all who knew him. I last spoke with him on a Sunday at "All Seasons" a few weeks after the loss of his beloved Lois. His grief was palpable as he replied "Yes, we were married 64 years & she was very special. It's a big change."
I'll always remember his kindness & genuine concern for others. Through our contact at Sharp's, Mr. McQuinn was aware that our son suffered from severe asthma as a child & even years later, when he was attending university, every time we met, never failed to inquire "how's Derrick doing?". All who were privileged to consider him "friend", will have a kindly thought of him.

Dear family; My heart sank this morning when I read of your Father's passing. Jarvis was the heart soul of Sharp's Drug store for so many years, it was a constant figure in my childhood. He always had a smile on his face and kinds caring words. Our dads meant through volunteering with minor Hockey. They were volunteers and became good friends. When my dad, ( Murray Carr, Mr. Baseball) started minor ball in our area, you dad was there. Your dad was a great source of encouragement and he helped out when ever he could. I haven't lived in Sussex since the 1970's, but when I went back to visit Sussex, I found your dad and mom at Tim's coffee shop. We sat down and spoke with both of them, we chatted over ole times and our hearts were as connected over the past we shared. God Bless each one of you as you go forward in the various communities you each now live in. Jarvis and Lois have certainly left their fingerprints on the town of Sussex and will be greatly missed. My family and I first met Jarvis and Lois in October of 1990, when we moved to Sussex. They were the kindest people we had ever met and set an example of love and support to live by. Jarvis was a great influence on me and Wallace Funeral Home..In 1997 Jarvis joined the Board of Advisory of Wallace Funeral Home and continued to mentor me for many years. His smile, hugs and true friendship will be greatly missed and never to be forgotten.

When I was a very little girl living at 474 Main Street I ran to sharps drug store because some kids were chasing me and Jarvis took me by the hand and walked me home......I will forever remember his kindness and compassion for the community!!
