Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Hetherington
We have just lost someone who means the world to us; our dear, sweet mum, Mary Elizabeth Hetherington passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Moncton Hospital.
She was the kindest, most patient person who would never complain or say a bad word about others. Mum was the happiest when doing for others and caring for her family in whatever way she could.
Mum celebrated her 92nd birthday with a small party in August with cake and balloons and a few people she loved. She delighted in the small things; her love of history and family and her scrapbooks. Mum was so thrilled to be able to meet her youngest great grandchild, Robbie in July.
Prior to her marriage and her life in Cody’s with dad on the farm, Mum trained as an LPN. She worked on the children’s wing at the TB hospital in Saint John, which she loved. Mum often told stories of life in the big city and meeting her great friends: Helga and Carolyn.
Mary was born August 22, 1927, daughter of the late Ella May Smith and William Mill Keillor Gourlay.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, Donnie; her son, Bill; her brother, Murray; her sisters: Margaret (Walter) Stewart and Jean (Bill) Walling; her nephew, Kenneth and her granddaughter, Katlyn.
She will live on in the hearts of her daughters: Alice Dunster and Marianne (Andreas) Kay; her son, Frank; her granddaughters: Michelle (Tom) Varga and their son, Donnie; Jillian (Andrew) O’Brien and their son, Robbie; her nephew, Len (Lois) Stewart; her niece, Katherine Charters; her granddaughters: Marie and Ashley and their families and other nieces and nephews.
Many thanks to the Sussex Health Center, Sussex Extra Mural Program and Home Care Plus; especially our friends Joanne and Patricia.
Love you and miss you always, Mum. See you Later.
