Obituary of Marguerite "Peggy" Brown
Mrs. Marguerite Ann "Peggy" Brown was born in Ratters Corner on October 22, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Katherine (Durham) Monahan and the wife of the late George Brown who passed away in 2015.
Peggy and her husband George were the former owners of Dutchies Barber Shop and the Queen Bee Beauty Parlor. She was a long time member of St. Francis Xavier Church and enjoyed playing 45's.
Peggy will live on in the hearts of her children: Ronnie Brown and his wife Barb, Marsha Burgess and her husband Earle all of Apohaqui, Ruth Brown of Florida, Russell Brown and his wife Sue, Walter Brown and Donna Hopper, Donnie Brown and his wife Joy all of Apohaqui, Martha Thompson and her husband Dennis (Manny) of Sussex Corner, Maryellen Gaunce and her husband Gary of Grand Bay, Joan Brown and Margaret McCarthy of Fredericton; her brother, Raymond Monahan; Ten grandchildren: Beverly DeWinter and her husband Durck of Sussex, Bobbi Chestnut and her husband Jaret, of Apohaqui, Rick Burgess and Jaime Dettweiler of Urney, Christy Bernier and her husband Serge of Apohaqui, Stephen Brown of Apohaqui, Laura Janes and her husband David of Nerepis, Kelsey Levenshulme and her husband Michael of Grand Bay Westfield, Matthew Brown of Halifax, Lucas Brown of Rocky Mountain House and Jeremiah Gaunce of Grand Bay; her great grandchildren: Colton and his wife Lauren, Cameron, Lindsay, Alex, Jayden, Riley, Will, Ashlynn, Geneviève, Ethan, Liam, Olivia, Georgia and Emmery; expecting one great-great grandson; as well as by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
On December 26, 2019 while surrounded by all nine of her loving children, Mrs. Marguerite Ann "Peggy" Brown of Sussex passed away at the Kiwanis Nursing Home at the age of 94 to be reunited with the love of her life, George.
Along with her parents and her husband, Peggy was predeceased by her brothers: Leonard Monahan, Ambrose Monahan and William (Bill) Monahan and by her sisters: Kathleen Cummings, Mary Ellen (Nellie) Hourihan, Irene Monahan and Grace Mercer.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) where visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8pm.
A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Peggy's life will be held from St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 11:00am.
